Straight answer
Why we do not hire home gyms by the month
Every other machine we stock goes out on hire — treadmills, bikes, rowers, cross trainers. Home gyms do not, and it is worth explaining why rather than leaving you to wonder.
A multi-station gym is not a machine you wheel through a doorway. It arrives as a crate of steel and is bolted together in the room it is going to live in — about three hours of work. Taking one out again is the same job in reverse.
Between hires it would then have to be stored, and a two-metre bolted frame with a 215lb weight stack does not stack in a corner of the warehouse the way a treadmill does. Charging a month’s hire for six hours of labour and a pallet of storage space would mean a rate nobody would want to pay.
So we do the honest thing instead. Rent to own from $13 a week and the gym is yours at the end, or buy it outright. Both come with delivery and setup, and you can either have us install it or put it together yourself with the manual, which is free to download further down this page.
If what you actually want is something for a few months, a treadmill, an exercise bike, a rower or a cross trainer will all hire from one month.
What it does
One frame, one weight stack, the whole body
A multi-station gym replaces a rack of separate machines. You stay on the one frame and move between stations by changing a pin, which is what makes them work in a spare room or a garage.
Pull
Lat pulldown and rows
The bar across the top runs the lat pulldown; the short curl and row bar on the low pulley covers seated rows and bicep curls. Between them they cover most of the back and arms.
Push
Pec dec and press
The pivoting arms bring the chest press and pec dec together on one station, so you move between them without changing anything but the seat pin.
Legs
Extension, curl, and the press
Padded rollers on the seat handle leg extensions and hamstring curls. On the LBX900LP a full leg press station is added below.
Core
Ab strap and cable work
The ab strap runs off the high pulley for kneeling crunches, and the low pulley takes cable work for the rest.
The range
Two gyms, and the difference is the leg press
Both are BodyworX, both run a 215lb stack, and both are built on the same oversized 100 x 50 mm steel frame with shrouds over the weights. Prices below are before delivery, which is $50 across Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Installation is optional.

Multi-station
BodyworX LBX700HG Deluxe 215LB Home Gym
The standard build, and the one most people put in a spare room. A 215lb stack drives the lat pulldown bar, the pec dec and press arms, leg extension and curl rollers, a curl and row bar on the low pulley and an adjustable ankle strap. Steel shrouds cover the weights, the seat height moves on a quick-release pop pin and the back rests are contoured rather than flat.
Assembled it stands 2.01 m tall and takes up 1.63 x 1.10 m of floor — worth measuring before you commit, particularly the height if it is going under a garage beam.
$1,399 to buy • rent to own $13 a week over 24 months, or $26 over 12 • installation $250

Multi-station with leg press
BodyworX LBX900LP 215LB Home Gym with Leg Press
The same gym with a full leg press station built in underneath. A 2:1 ratio on the press turns the 215lb (98 kg) stack into up to 430lb — 195 kg — of leg resistance, and a six-position pop pin sets the start angle to suit your leg length. Everything on the LBX700HG is here as well.
It is the wider of the two at 1.63 x 1.50 m, and the same 2.01 m tall. If you are training legs seriously and would otherwise be looking at a squat rack, this is the one.
$1,999 to buy • rent to own $18 a week over 24 months, or $36 over 12 • installation $350
Older BodyworX gyms — the L7700 and the L7800LP — were the previous versions of these two. If you own one, the manuals are still here.
Rent to own
From $13 a week, and at the end it is yours
Rent to own is how most home gyms leave here. You pay weekly over 12 or 24 months, we deliver and set it up, and the gym belongs to you at the end of the term. There is nothing to pay when you apply and nothing is charged through this website.
Every agreement is financed by humm. You choose the machine and apply through us, humm assesses the application, and the weekly payments are made to humm under a separate agreement — their terms and any fees they charge apply in addition to ours. We will tell you where you stand before anything is delivered.
LBX700HG — $13 a week over 24 months, or $26 over 12 | LBX900LP — $18 a week over 24 months, or $36 over 12
Installation
We can build it, or you can
A home gym arrives flat and gets bolted together where it is going to stand. It takes our installer about three hours, and you will want a second pair of hands if you are doing it yourself — the frame is heavy and the cables have to go on in the right order.
Installation is $250 for the LBX700HG and $350 for the LBX900LP, the difference being the leg press. You choose when you order, and there is no obligation — plenty of people put them together themselves with the manual, which is free below.
What the installer does
- Brings it into the room you want it in
- Assembles the frame, stations and seat
- Routes and tensions every cable
- Checks the stack runs clean and the pins seat properly
- Takes the packaging away
Relocating one later is priced on application — it depends on the stairs and the access more than the machine.

Delivery
Delivery and setup from $50, Brisbane to the Gold Coast
Our own van, out of Yatala between the two cities, usually within a few days of the paperwork being done. We carry it in ourselves — a home gym comes in more than one carton and none of them are light.
Payment is on delivery by cash, card or Afterpay if you are buying outright. Outlying areas can still be covered; we will tell you what applies before anything is booked.

Questions
What people ask about home gyms
Can I hire a home gym by the month?
A multi-station gym takes about three hours to bolt together in the room it is going to stand in, and the same again to take apart, and between hires it would have to be stored somewhere. That is why we do not hire them. Rent to own from $13 a week is what we offer instead, and at the end of the term the gym is yours. Treadmills, exercise bikes, rowers and cross trainers all hire from one month.
How much space do I need?
Assembled, the LBX700HG takes up 1.63 x 1.10 m of floor and the LBX900LP 1.63 x 1.50 m. Both stand 2.01 m tall, so check the height if it is going under a garage beam or a sloped ceiling. Leave a little room on each side to sit and extend.
Who finances rent to own?
humm. You choose the machine and apply through us, humm assesses the application, and the weekly payments are made to humm under a separate agreement, so their terms and any fees they charge apply in addition to ours. There is nothing to pay when you apply and nothing is charged through this website.
I have an older BodyworX home gym. Is the manual still available?
Yes. The L7700 and the L7800LP were the previous versions of these two models and both manuals are on this page, as well as on our owner’s manuals page. They are free and we do not ask for an email address.
What is the difference between the LBX700HG and the LBX900LP?
The leg press. Both run a 215lb weight stack on the same frame with the same upper-body stations. The LBX900LP adds a leg press with a 2:1 ratio, giving up to 195 kg of resistance, and is 400 mm wider because of it.
How long does installation take, and do I have to pay for it?
About three hours. It is $250 for the LBX700HG and $350 for the LBX900LP, and it is entirely optional — the manual is free to download from this page and plenty of people assemble their own. If you do, get a second pair of hands: the frame is heavy and the cables have to go on in the right order.
Can I buy one outright instead?
Yes. $1,399 for the LBX700HG and $1,999 for the LBX900LP, plus $50 delivery across Brisbane and the Gold Coast. You pay on delivery by cash, card or Afterpay.
Do you deliver to the Gold Coast?
Yes. We are based at Yatala, between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, so both are standard delivery areas at $50. Outlying suburbs can usually still be covered — check your suburb and we will tell you what applies before anything is booked.
How many calories does a weights session burn?
Less during the session itself than steady cardio does, which catches people out. What that figure cannot show is what happens afterwards: muscle you build is muscle your body has to feed, so it lifts what you burn at rest, every day. The daily calorie calculator gives you both, your at-rest burn and what a session on the equipment costs you.
Not sure whether to rent it or buy it?
Tell us what you are trying to do and we will work out honestly which way costs you less. We have been selling and hiring this gear around Brisbane and the Gold Coast since 2000.
